Class
Descriptions
Pilates
- A non-impact
method of exercise created by Joseph Pilates to uniformly develop
the body. This requires the re-patterning of muscles and skeletal
development as a result of habits, occupation, injuries, hobbies/sports,
and lifestyles. Participants will notice improved posture, energy,
strength, flexibility, and often relief of pain.
The
main difference between yoga and Pilates is the absence of held
poses. In Pilates, exercises are repeated 3 to 10 times. Another
difference is the focus on the mind/body connection which is acquired
by concentrating on precision of movement rather than meditation.
Pilates
Mat - The movements
in this class are done without the aid of equipment. The participant
relies on his/her body weight alone, thus enforcing the principles
of the Method: Centering, Control and Concentration, Precision of
Movement, Flowing Movement, and Breath. On occasion, participants
use Dynabands, Magic Circles, or Physioballs.
Equipment
Classes - These
classes use state-of-the-art Peak Pilates equipment such as the
Reformer, the Cadillac, the Barrel, and the Wunda Chair.
Pilates Combo - You never know what you’ll work on in a Pilates
Combo class. It’s an all-levels class where participants practice
any variations of the Method - Mat, Pole/Tower, Barrel, or Chair.
The instructor will offer options for each level and small class
size ensures you get the attention you need to practice Pilates
safely and effectively.
